Sumida river fireworks festival

Do you have fireworks festival in your country?
One of my friend living in Europe told me that he can see fireworks only during New Years. I was so surprised! In Japan, we have lots of fireworks events, especially during the summer.

We also can buy a pack of small handy fireworks at a convenience stores during the summer. I used to play with handy fireworks in a park with my parents when I was a child. (We have to take a bucket with water.)

There is a famous fireworks festival along Sumida River, around Asakusa area.

Nuchi-gusui

"Nuchi-gusui" is a name of Japanese style pub (Izakaya).
This Izakaya is not Asakusa style, but Okinawa Style.
Okinawa is southern islands, tropical paradise :)
  Nuchi=Inochi いのち（命）＝life
  Gusui=Kusuri くすり（薬）＝medication
Foods, drinks, language and culture in Okinawa are really different from main island ones. Okinawa is very popular in Tokyo.
You can taste typical foods and drinks from Okinawa here.
I like this Agu-buta-donburi!! (Agu-buta is Okinawa pork, donburi is a rice bowl)

Night view of Denbouin-dori

Denboin(Denbouin伝法院) is a street between Sensoji and Kaminarimon.
There are some shops and restaurants along the street so you can enjoy in the day time, but I really love walking along this street at night.
Not many tourists at night (because the shops are closed), quiet and beautiful...! You can see beautiful paintings on the shutters of each shops. I always feel like I'm in the Edo era when I walk Denboin street at night. Don't miss the night view of Denboin if your hotel is near Asakusa area!!

Hitsumabushi

This is "Hitsumabushi". Fish(eel=unagi) on rice!
Hitshmabushi is originally from Aichi or Mie prefecture.
This Hitsumabushi is Asakusa style. Usually Hitsumabushi's condiment is special Japanese sauce called "tare", but Asakusa Hitsumabushi's condiment is salt.
Unagi is luxury food so Hitsumabushi is a bit expensive but I really love it!

TOKYO CRUISE

An hour cruise from Asakusa to Odaiba is really refreshing!
A ship in the photo is "Hotaluna", the newest one.
You can drink inside the ship.
There are lots of bridges with various designs like this.

I usually take trains for return trip from Odaiba to Asakusa.
(much faster and cheaper!)

Tokyo Skytree

Tokyo Skytree is 634m high.
You can walk from Asakusa Sensoji to Skytree. The website of Skytree says that it takes 15 minutes from Asakusa to Skytree. I can't believe it! When I walked, I felt it was like 20 minutes or 25 minutes! Did I stop too many times??? Did I walk so slow??? Was that because I'm 158cm small??? I almost always take a train from Asakusa to Skytree station... Anyways, I like a shopping mall at Skytree and I also love a small aquarium called Sumida Suizokukan. I collect small capsule-toy of marine creatures which I can get in the aquarium (capsule-toy vending machine). There are 8 collections and I still miss one...!

I've heard that after snow day, icicles fell down from the top of the tower! Be careful during the winter!!

Sensoji Temple in the evening

Lots of Japanese people visit Sensoji Temple.
I often ask my Japanese friends, "Have you ever visited Sensoji in the evening? Have you seen floodlight of Sensoji? So gorgeous!"
Most of my friends say "Never"! so I take them Asakusa night tour :)

There are too many people during the day time so I prefer the night time.
